Breaking Free from Perfectionism: My 2025 Goal Journey
Welcome to my first step in an exciting journey I’m embarking on this year! As 2025 begins, I’ve set myself a challenge to create and share more content. This blog post (and its video counterpart) is my imperfect beginning—proof that progress matters more than perfection.
Why Imperfect is Perfect Right Now
As someone who went to school for editing and graphic design, I’ve always valued quality and precision in my work. However, that same perfectionism often holds me back. I make tasks too big, too detailed, and too overwhelming, which means they don’t get finished—or even started.
This year, I’m ditching that mindset. My goal is to create consistently, even if it’s messy at first. This blog (and video) is about getting things done rather than obsessing over every little detail.
My Goals for 2025
To keep myself accountable, I’ve decided to document my goals in a video diary and blog format. By reviewing these goals regularly—every two weeks, monthly, and quarterly—I’ll track my progress, reflect on challenges, and celebrate small wins along the way.
Goal #1: Create More Videos
This year, I want to embrace the process of making videos as a way to express myself and hold myself accountable.
• Why? I know the first few videos won’t get many views, and that’s okay. These videos are for me. They’re my tool for self-reflection and growth, helping me step out of my comfort zone and take action.
Goal #2: Reach 20-22% Body Fat
My health and fitness journey is a big focus this year. I want to reduce my body fat percentage to between 20-22%.
• How? Instead of getting overwhelmed by the end goal, I’m breaking it into manageable chunks: 2-5% body fat reduction per quarter. This approach allows me to focus on small, achievable steps that add up over time.
What I’ve Learned So Far
The act of starting—even with an imperfect blog or video—is liberating. Here’s why:
1. Progress Over Perfection: Taking action, no matter how small, builds momentum.
2. Accountability Matters: Putting my goals out there keeps me motivated to stay on track.
3. Reflection is Key: Reviewing my goals regularly will allow me to adjust my approach and stay aligned with my vision.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. As the year progresses, I’ll continue documenting my journey—sharing updates, insights, and lessons learned. My hope is that this process not only keeps me accountable but also inspires others to embrace progress over perfection in their own lives.
Final Thoughts
Starting something new can be daunting, especially when perfectionism whispers in your ear, “You’re not ready yet.” But if I’ve learned anything, it’s this: You’ll never be ready if you don’t start.
So here’s to imperfect beginnings and little steps forward! Whether it’s your first blog post, your first workout, or your first step toward a new goal, progress always beats perfection.
Let’s make 2025 a year of growth, one small step at a time.
